Q: What’s Covered during the Course?

A: Our self-defence courses are designed for the everyday person. All our courses cover personal safety awareness in your daily life as well as focusing on easy to remember and effective physical self-defence techniques.

The 2 Hour Workshop Covers:

  • Personal safety talk and how to be safe in your daily life
  • Drug rape awareness: information on and avoidance of the alarming rise of drinks being spiked (this applies to both men and women – 11% of drug rape reports are made by men)
  • Identification of risk situations and avoidance
  • Teaching participants practical & highly effective self-defence skills
  • Identifying target areas on an attacker’s body
  • Victim mentality
  • Educate participants that they have choices when they are faced with an attack situation
  • Understanding the violent mind
  • Breakdown misconceptions of rape/violence
  • Build confidence in your own capabilities
  • Why verbal diffusion is so important

Q: Do you train men and women?

A: Yes, our workshops are open to both men and women. However, we prefer to teach these groups separately. This is done for a handful of reasons.

The patterns of attack tend to be different for males and females. Generally, any male attack is front-facing and invariably does not have a sexual motive. A female attack perpetrated by a man typically has a sexual motive and is from behind. Therefore, the types of defence techniques taught vary to deal with the different attack patterns.

In addition, women tend to feel more comfortable in a group with just women when subjects such as rape and sexual abuse are discussed.

Our self-defence workshops focus on inclusion. We have cultivated and open environment and encourage openness and participation. Our general public workshops in  normally  women and young adults.

Q: Is this a martial arts course?

A: No. Kyokushin  Self-Defence has designed their courses specifically with the everyday person in mind. We have grounded our courses in real life safety awareness concerns and real-life attack patterns. These we have studied over many years. Martial Arts is a sport and a way of life and thus is not always practical when it comes to realistic, effective, and easy to remember ‘street’ self-defence techniques.

Q: Is the training held in house?

A: Kyokushin  Self-Defence corporate self-defence courses in Bangalore  will visit your place of work. Kyokushin Self-Defence corporate self-defence courses in Bangalore are run in-house at times most suitable to your working environment. This flexible approach means our clients can book self-defence courses at a time to suit them.

Q: How much space is needed to train?

A: A space no bigger than an average sized meeting room. Some of our clients clear a small area in the office canteen. If your company does not have a small space like this then a local gym is often prepared to rent a small studio at reasonable prices.

Q: Does the company need any equipment?

A: Kyokushin Self-Defence will provide all the necessary training equipment.

Q: Is there a min & max number of participants for a course?

A: We require a number of 20 participants at one of our corporate self-defence courses in Bangalore, and no higher than 40. This gives us ample opportunity to provide comprehensive teaching. Two instructors will be present if the numbers exceed 20.

Q: How much do the workshops cost?

A: Please email us : ravi.kyokushinbangalore@gmail.com. for information on costs.

Some of our corporate clients cover the entire cost for their staff. However, where companies do not have a large enough training budget they are entitled to a subsidised rate. In some cases, companies have even provided their staff with vouchers to attend our general public courses at our training venue in Cartman Campus where we hold weekend courses. This is typically done when attendee numbers are small.

Q: What is the duration of the course?

A: The workshop duration is 2 – 3.5 hours, depending on numbers attending. The workshop can be held in one session of 2 – 3.5 hours duration, or three sessions of 1.5 hours on consecutive weeks. This provides you with flexibility. However, where a course is not held in a one-off session there is a small cost added to cover multiple travels by trainers.

If we have to cancel a course:

Kyokushin Self Defence reserves the right to cancel at any time prior to commencement due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient numbers. However, we will endeavour to ensure workshops are held on the committed dates.

If it’s entirely unfeasible for one of our corporate or workplace safety courses in Bangalore  to go-ahead, we will notify you as soon as possible. Any fees received from you will be refunded. Alternatively, you have the option of transferring to the same workshop on an alternative date.

Q: How many workshop levels are there?

A: There are two levels. Each level is 2½ hours in duration and in a modular format. Each module is a separate and independent building block. Only one level needs to be booked at a time. The first is the introductory Level One. Upon completion, you can decide whether to introduce Level Two.

All Levels focus on general safety awareness and the reinforcement of good personal safety habits. The participants are encouraged to share their views, experiences and concerns. Therefore, the workshops are very scenario-based rather than run in the format of a lecture.

Level One is focused on the introduction and application of practical self-defence techniques and tools. Most participants will have had no previous knowledge or self-defence or safety awareness prior to taking the Level One course. Every participant will have the chance to practice all the techniques, often more than once.

Level Two reinforces the foundation techniques learnt in Level One. Level Two evolves the techniques acquired in Level One, with participants learning to apply the techniques with quicker response times and effectiveness.

Throughout the time we have run our corporate and personal safety training for companies in Bangalore.

We introduce awareness and physical skills on knife defence and how to defend yourself should you have fallen to the ground in the Level Two Course. Level Two also focuses on building further confidence in the participants in the use of all the techniques and their ability to deal with verbal and physical aggression.

Q: Do you have to be fit to do the course?

A: You do not have to be fit or sporty. Self-defence training is a life skill and not a fitness or martial arts class. ߳kzI
